Coach Alec de Mattos’s L.A. Premier FC GU14 White team captured Select Flight Championship of the Cerritos Memorial Challenge Cup, May 28-30, 2011.

A sandblasted Jennifer Lopez free kick 15 minutes in, from 30+ yards out, was enough to secure a 1-0 victory over a tough Arsenal Red team in the Championship game, played at Cal State Long Beach.  The Championship match was a fast paced, physical, end to end affair, where the team showed tremendous character, with several members of the squad playing with minor, yet painful leg and back injuries incurred in the match and during the course of the tournament.

In route to the Championship the team defeated Las Vegas Premier FC red 1-0, then drew 1-1 with the Galaxy Alliance Blackouts, where a well taken Simone Weinstein equalizer enabled the team to secure the top seed in Bracket B.  A 3-1 Semi Final victory of Banat SC (Arizona) followed, featuring a spectacular hat trick by forward Izzy Dou.

Alec’s team is looking forward to upcoming Summer tournaments followed by the Fall league season.
